About the work

Two Self Portraits presents two different depictions of the artist, juxtaposed by an abstracted landscape meant to bring an unrealistic setting. Putting a humorous and decidedly feminine spin on impressionism, Bohrer's inclusion of larger-than-life vibrators, in addition to the computers in the foreground of the painting, invoke an overwhelming sense of our dependency on technology and, furthermore, the ways in which this dependency manifests.
